It is the grave of a famous young girl named Sharifa. The name Sharifa means a girl or a woman who has magical powers born with it (directly from God). This is according to Islamic religion and if it was a man, he would be named Sharif. Sharifa died at the age of 13 while she was still a virgin.
Sharifa was believed by the people due to her ability to heal people who suffered from different diseases by just praying to them and had the ability to translate dreams and predict things that will happen in the future.
She also did a miracle to a well that was found beside the Mosque, the well did not dry until today and the water there does not have any salty taste as before despite the well being near the ocean. The water is believed to cure some diseases and also you can set an intention on the things you want to happen in your life or a problem you want it to go away from your life before you drink then you drink.
After she died (Sharifa), the next day in the morning, three babies died in different houses at the same time sharifa died yesterday and the people believed that they were angels accompanied her and they were buried around the grave of Sharifa.
Until today the people of Bagamoyo and the visitors are going to the grave of Sharifa to pray because they believe Sharifa because of the power she had may help them to deliver their prayers to God.
